Summary

This grant funds emergency repairs and modernization efforts of school facilities for eligible local educational agencies that receive formula impact aid funds. Funding will be provided for emergency repairing, renovating, or altering a public elementary or secondary school facility to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students and school personnel.
For FY 2015, this program is soliciting applications only for Priority 1 and Priority 2 emergency repair grants. An LEA has Priority 1 eligibility if it is eligible to receive formula construction funds or is eligible to receive funds for heavily impacted areas. An LEA has Priority 2 eligibility if its average daily attendance includes 40% of children living on tribal lands or 40% of children with a parent in the armed services.

Except for applicants with no practical capacity to issues bonds, applicants must provide at least 50% match of the total project costs. The funding agency will consider funds provided by the applicant from local, state, and other federal sources in reviewing applications.
