|
WaterSMART Reclamation and Reuse Grants provide cost-shared funding for specifically authorized Title XVI projects that reclaim or reuse municipal, industrial, domestic, or agricultural wastewater and naturally impaired groundwater, in partnership with local government entities. The WaterSMART Program focuses on improving water conservation, sustainability and helping water resource managers make sound decisions about water use. Reclaimed water can be used for environmental restoration, fish and wildlife, groundwater recharge, and recreation. Awards will be provided for planning, design, and/or implementation of authorized projects. |

Applicants must provide a cash or in-kind nonfederal match of 75 percent of project costs. In-kind matches may be provided by real property, equipment, supplies and other expendable property, and/or the value of services specifically identifiable to the project. |

Applications will be evaluated based on answers to specific questions in several categories, including how project will stretch water supply, contribution to water supply sustainability, projected benefits of project, benefits to rural or disadvantaged communities and several others. |
