Eligible applicants are partnerships consisting of at least one degree-granting institution of higher education (IHE) and at least one local educational agency (LEA). Partnerships may include not less than two other community organizations or entities, such as businesses, professional organizations, state agencies, institutions or agencies sponsoring programs authorized under the Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership Program, or other public or private agencies or organizations.
Required services under this program are:
– Providing financial aid information for postsecondary education
– Encouraging enrollment in rigorous and challenging coursework in order to reduce the need for remediation at the postsecondary level
– Implementing activities to improve the number of participating students who obtain a secondary school diploma and who complete applications for and enroll in a program of postsecondary education
This opportunity contains one absolute priority with four categories. Each category has different priorities within it.
To meet the absolute priority, applicants must address at least one priority area in at least three of the four categories. Applicants may choose to address additional activities or all four categories, but they will not receive additional points doing so.
The four categories are:
Category 1: Fostering flexible and affordable paths to obtaining knowledge and skills
Category 2: Promoting science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) education, with a particular focus on computer science
Category 3: Protecting freedom of speech and encouraging respectful interactions in a safe educational environment, or fostering knowledge and promoting the development of skills that prepare students to be informed, thoughtful, and productive individuals and citizens
Category 4: Fostering knowledge and promoting the development of skills that prepare students to be informed, thoughtful, and productive individuals and citizens
