Summary

The program expands projects that are supported by strong evidence of effectiveness toward the goal of improving education for high-need students. Scale-up projects are expected to generate information about the students and contexts for which the project is most effective. Projects must address one of the following absolute priorities: improving the effectiveness of teachers or principals, implementing internationally benchmarked college- and career-ready elementary and secondary academic standards, implementing high school reform and redesign, and serving rural communities. Applications applying under the absolute priority for rural communities must identify an additional absolute priority.

Eligibility Notes

Nonprofits may apply in partnership with one or more LEAS a or a consortium of two or more public elementary or secondary schools. For-profit entities may be involved as partners.

Projects addressing the following competitive preferences will receive additional points: improving cost effectiveness and productivity, enabling broad adoption of effective practices, supporting novice i3 applicants.

Match Notes

Applicants must provide a match of at least 10% of the award amount in cash or in-kind contributions from one or more private sector sources. Applicants should provide evidence that 50% of the required match will be obtained prior to the awarding of funds and that the remaining 50% will be received six months after the project start date.
